National Certificate In Tourism (Introductory Skills) - Level 2Course OverviewThis qualification has been specifically designed for people with an introduction to the tourism industry. It recognizes the knowledge and skills required as a base for further training in the tourism industry. Successful completion of this course [provides students with overview of the structure of the tourism industry, students will identify careers within the industry and students will identify the skills, attitudes and knowledge requirements of those careers.Course IntakesEnrolments All Year Round There is no cost to eligible domestic students, government funding available. Entry RequirementsOpen Entry TEC Eligibility Criteria Applies, - Please note this only applies to New Zealand citizens/permanent residents who wish to apply for the FREE TEC Courses. Course SubjectsThe compulsory section ensures people awarded with this qualification are able to demonstrate knowledge of tourist characteristics and needs, the business of tourism, destination New Zealand, world tourist destinations, work roles in tourism. Elective 1 includes basic literacy and communication skills. In Elective 2, Set A provides students with the opportunity to learn a variety of knowledge and skills required in the New Zealand tourism industry. Future Possibilities:Employment: Tour Guide, Tourist Industry Centre, Airlines, Hotel Industry, Tourism outlets or related industries. Further Training: This qualification prepares people for entry to National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) Level 3, which in turn can lead to qualifications and careers in outbound travel such as travel consultancy or wholesale travel, and inbound tourism within the New Zealand tourism industry.
