NZIM Diploma in Management - Level 5

Course Overview

This course aims to provide a thorough grounding in business and management practices appropriate for people wishing to enter management roles in business. It is designed as an exit point from the NZ Diploma in Business for those students who wish to have basic understanding of management practice but do not wish to specialise in business studies. It also provides a platform for students wishing to transition to degree programmes or advanced management qualifications.




Course Intakes :

Four intakes per year.  This course is available to Domestic as well also to International students.

Entry Requirements:

If you are under 20 years of age, you must have:

  • A minimum of 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher in mathematics or pängarau on the National Qualifications Framework; and
  • 50 credits at Level 2 or above, with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of eight literacy credits at Level 2 or higher in English or te reo Māori; four credits must be in reading and four credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards.
Or an equivalent to both of the above.
 
If English is NOT your first language, you must also have an IELTS score of 6.0 (academic) or TOEFL score of 550.

If you do not meet the Academic and English language requirements specified, special entry may be granted where the Institute is satisfied that you are capable of undertaking this course of study. Learners from the Pacific must have passed Seventh Form Examination / Year 13 and obtained a pass in English.

Special admission may be granted to learners aged 20 years or over who do not meet the specified entry requirements if they have equivalent life and/or work experience. These learners will be required to demonstrate an ability to successfully complete the programme through an interview.

 Course Subjects:

There are four Core papers; Organisation and Management, Business Communication,  Leadership and Applied Management plus two electives from the following papers; Accounting Principles, Introduction to Commercial Law, Marketing Principles, Computer Concepts.

Future Possibilities:

Employment: Manage own small business, Initial appointment management trainee/ supervisory position, 

Further training: NZ Diploma in Business or Degree in Management/Business.

Graduating Qualifications:

Successful students gain: NZIM Diploma in Management Level 5 (Dip. Mgt)
