Our Patrons

Martin Hautus was established by our founders in 1990. They decided to name the Institute after two brilliant gentlemen. Both were educators and colleagues of Pulotu Arthur who taught at the same Catholic Secondary School - De La Salle College.

Mr. John Martin.

Migrated to New Zealand from Australia intending to stay and teach for two years, he stayed on for 27 years. He displayed great discipline and perseverance in working with people to bring out the best in them. He was remembered especially for his discipline towards learning and his cultural appreciation towards the young people of South Auckland.

Brother Mathew Hautus.

Was a brother of De La Salle Order, who was a well respected and honoured scholar and educator. He loved education and loved to share his passion with his students encouraging them to believe in education as a tool to better their careers. He was taken sadly ahead of his time, and was remembered for his academic excellence and spiritual values.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

"Martin Hautus provides a holistic education where us as students are prepared academically, spiritually and socially for the real world"
